Using unconventional hardware - a blow torch, iron and other heated tools - along with
paper, encaustics, photography, resin and natural materials, my uncommon mixed media
techniques give way to a vision that is intense, mysterious and ethereal. Most of my
inspiration comes from the natural world as I aim to translate my subject's movement, drama
and complexity. I might glaze or layer wax over photographs, manipulate lenticular 3D
images or render subjects lost within a waxy fog.
I use all mediums in what Van Gogh called a “language of nature,” particularly in my
underwater, wild horses and aspens series. My aim is to show curiosity and adventure within
images that are compelling, multi-layered, and seductive.
I work from studios in Connecticut and New Mexico.
