Lesley Koenig's adventures in the art world most certainly go back earlier than her first memory of getting a watercolor set. A six year old completely immersed in painting for the entire day without a break announced to the world that art was her calling.
Winning a scholarship in a competition turned Koenig's concentration to fashion. She attended Parson's School of Design and became an award-winning clothing designer and illustrator travelling to Europe and Asia. The daily interactions of developing collections instilled Koenig with a keen sense of color, line, proportion and composition.
After moving out of her native New York to Southwestern Connecticut to raise a family, Koenig renewed her artistic passion for drawing and painting. She focuses on abstract expressionism, including abstract seascapes and landscapes. Although she works spontaneously, her experience in design is an integral component of her instinctive process.
As well as participating in shows in New York City and all of the major art walks from Greenwich to New Haven and beyond, Koenig's work has been juried into national and regional solo and group shows in corporations, galleries and museums. She is a juried member of The National Association of Women Artists and sells her paintings internationally.
