Sandra Farley Aldrich lives and works in Westport, CT where she has her studio and gardens overlooking the Saugatuck River. Formerly a long time Rowayton resident, she remains an active and participating member of the Rowayton Art Center. She is also a member of the Westport Art Center and the Art Center in Old Forge, NY. Sandra and her husband Bob have four children and eight grandchildren all living in or around Rowayton.
Sandra studied with Gayle Asher and Charles Sovek in Rowayton and with Robert Baxtor and Anna Francis at Silvermine. Her works, primarily watercolors and acrylics, ar exhibited at the Geary Gallery in Darien, CT and the Rowayton Arts Center. A large sampling of her art, including a number of Giclee prints, can be seen and purchased through her web site (www.sandrafaldrich.com).
Sandra has exhibited for over 40 years, winning multiple awards - including the Mavis Fenner Memorial award for "Best in Show" at the Rowayton Art Center's juried all-media Reflections Show. She has had many one and two person shows including: Geary Gallery; Bistro du Soleil; Atrium; Westport Art Center; Darien Library; the Whittingham Center and for a second time at 101 in Rowayton.
While she is probably best known for the Rowayton Poster, her paintings generally are of those familiar images that inspire her: flowers, water, landscapes and birds - the beauty of nature seen up close and occasionally from afar. Contrasts in light and variations in colors are an important elements of her work.
Sandra's objective to give the viewer a sense of the beauty and peace of our natural surroundings and to evoke memories of happy times.
