Christine Frisbee

Christine K. Frisbee

Christine Frisbee is an American painter, author and inventor who lives on Cape Cod and in Bedford, New York.  Born in 1951, in Summit, New Jersey, she started creating and drawing from a very young age, Christine was influenced by her mother, Mary Jane Kenny, who painted watercolors. Christine was introduced to oil painting at the age of 14 at Oak Knoll School, in Summit. She continued to paint through high school and in college. In the 1970s she studied oil painting in a small studio in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey.  She moved to London in 1983 where she studied art history at the Museum Collections including Christies.  After moving to New York City in 2001 she painted with Sam Adoquei at the National Art Gallery, Simon Levinson at the National Arts Club and Leah Lopez at the New York Academy of Art. On Cape Cod she took workshops with Joseph Mcgurl and Alice Mongeau, Dennis Rafferty of Maine and Jonathan McPhillips of Rhode Island.

Christine lost her second child, Rich, to leukemia when he was 15 and saw the importance of art therapy while he was sick. After receiving an MBA she worked for the Yale School of Medicine with families undergoing cancer treatment. This emphasized the importance of art for healing. Art Bags For Kids is an art program that Christine established for children who are at home because if an illness or disability. As a juried artist into The National Association of Women Artists she shows her artwork throughout the country. Her paintings are in private collections.

"It is not what you see but what you don't see that makes an emotional painting. Painting was always my true calling. It brought me peace and a respite while growing up in a large family with 12 children.  Art helped me see nature and people in a new way and it continues to be a comfort to me."

Christine has worked on bringing the therapeutic value of art to children with who are in hospitals or at home with illness or disability.  The program named Art Bags for Kids can be seen at
