Isabelle Hunter

Isabelle grew up in rural Massachusetts, lived in Italy and later in Providence, RI for many years, and now lives in Rowayton, CT. She has taken classes at Rowayton Arts Center and plein air workshops on Martha’s Vineyard (Susan Nichter) and in Madison, CT (Lenny Moskowitz). She experiments with various media, including acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pencil, collage, oil pastel, mixed media and photography.

Isabelle is especially interested exploring the layers of meaning hidden in nature, in particular land- and sea-scapes. She is currently re-examining the roles of design, color, and value; considering the positive impact of risk taking on her art making; and thinking about scaling up in size for future works.
