Abstract Expressionist painter Katie Ré Scheidt was born in New York City and raised in Bronxville, NY. Scheidt had a thirteen-year career on Wall Street as an equity sales trader, and began her professional art career while living in Roxbury, CT where she has lived for the past eight years with her family.
Scheidt has built a robust commission business specializing in abstracts, portraiture and nudes. Her gestural figures are both lyrical and romantic, and at the same time they engage a powerful conversation with the present. Amid layered fields of color and expressive strokes of pigment, bare canvas and fragile charcoal lines, her abstracts burst before you as painterly moments come together to create a whole. Scheidt’s use of color is both sumptuous and candid, lending a lush choreography to her work.
Scheidt's work can be found in private collections worldwide. The artist’s work currently hangs in the Katonah Museum Spring Exhibition at Northern Westchester Hospital through September 24, 2019. Scheidt’s nudes and abstracts can be seen in Relais & Chateaux hotels in New England like Winvian Farm in Litchfield Hills, CT and in Auberge resorts like The Mayflower Inn & Spa in Washington, CT.
