Bill Milcarek, also known to many as Fresko, is a southern-born, New York City raised artist, whose work is inspired by a life-long passion for the ocean. As a child, he spent many summers on the beaches of Sardinia, where he was exposed to the art, food and culture of the Mediterranean. Bill’s relationship with the ocean, its bounty and culinary pursuits it inspired grew even stronger after purchasing a home in Montauk on Long Island, where he often escaped the fast- paced life of New York City. Bill left the restaurant and club business behind to pursue a life of art and culinary interests, and he now lives full-time on the Isle of Palms outside of Charleston, South Carolina with his wife and two children. When he isn’t creating in his studio, he’s creating in the kitchen—typically from whatever gift the sea has offered through rod or trap.
