Marie K Lynch began making art as soon as she could hold a crayon!
Connecticut artist, Marie Lynch, demonstrated a gift for the creative arts at an early age. During childhood, she progressed from one artistic project to another finally finding her strength in oil painting during her teen years.
As the recipient of a full merit scholarship to the prestigious Silvermine Guild of Art, she diligently studied all aspects of fine art, including art history, drawing, design, printmaking, sculpture, and oil painting. During her senior year at the Guild, she was awarded a private studio space in which to complete her thesis and other project work where she specialized in expressionistic portraiture.
After working for several years on large abstracts, she then concentrated on still life, and specialized in commissioned portraiture, with an emphasis on children and pets. Ms. Lynch is now working on abstracts in mixed media and collage.
She has served on the Board of Directors of the Stamford Art Association for many years. Marie has been the recipient of numerous awards and her paintings are enjoyed in the collections of several patrons.
CCNS Show: From the titles of my recent paintings you can see my current fascination with the micro world exposed by our ability to research DNA and ancestry. It brings a lot of visual material to the imagination for an abstract painter and so much to explore as we peruse the capabilities of sites such as “23 and Me” and “Ancestry.com”.
