Joanne Gray

Local Artist Joanne Gray grew up on the South Western shores of

Cornwall, England.

Surrounded by the sand and sea, she fell in love with

everything to do with the ocean.

Salt Water Fish Rubbings was born in 2010 after a trip away she
discovered the Japanese technique of capturing the image of the
fish by printing a fish rubbing, another name for it Gyotaku.
Painting the skin of the fish and laying rice paper over the creature
and pressing lightly to capture a print of the actual fish.
Long ago Japanese fishermen used to record
their catches using this ancient art technique.
Joanne was hooked and immediately
started to learn the art form.

Joanne is also known for her incredible Ocean Resin Art and

capturing seaside scenes with her acrylics.

Over the past ten years Joanne has been acknowledged in various
art and design forums, a listed artist with Serena and Lily and
received many awards and recognition from the local design and
media outlets along with the Editors pick in 2016 from New Canaan,

Darien and Rowayton Magazine.

Today Joanne lives in Norwalk with her husband and

two sons, and has a charming shop in
Rowayton called Seaside Delights.
