Isabelle Hunter

Isabelle grew up in rural Massachusetts, lived in Italy for several years, and now

divides her time between Rowayton and West Tisbury. She has taken painting

classes and plein air workshops at Rowayton Art Center and on Martha’s Vineyard.

She enjoys experimenting with various media, including acrylic, watercolor,

gouache, pastels, pencil, collage, ink, mixed media and photography.

Exhibits at museums and galleries never cease to inspire her, and she's glad to be

able to revisit these after the recent two-year Covid hiatus.

For the subjects of her paintings, Isabelle is especially interested exploring the

layers of meaning hidden in nature. The ocean and other bodies of water hold

special appeal and fascination. She is currently examining the alliance between

playfulness and the rigors of design, color, and value.
