Clarissa Jan Ward

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I have moved all over the eastern part of the country, ping-ponging from north to south and back again. I’m happy to now be a resident of Norwalk, CT. I taught art and photography for a number of years, have master’s degrees in painting and art education, and have shown my work professionally since the 1990’s. My artwork usually revolves around themes of nature. I love hiking and traveling, and my experiences are reflected in many of my paintings. I also enjoy working from my imagination in paintings that I begin by marbling with ink on paper or oils on canvas. My paintings on canvas are in oil, and my works on paper are watercolor or mixed media. I love the spontaneity of watercolor and marbling, as well as the rich color and textures of oils, particularly when using my pallet knife.

I hope you enjoy my work!
